W.K. Kellogg Manor House and Gardens in Hickory Corners, Michigan

-Sunday, August 20th, a family-friendly concert and tours will be available at the W.K. Kellogg Manor House in Hickory Corners. The Manor House is located at 3700 East Gull Lake Drive. This is the former home and estate of W.K. Kellogg. 

Guests are invited to bring a picnic lunch, take self-guided tours of the Manor House and grounds, learn more about the Kellogg Biological Station’s research, education and outreach activities.   Historical Walking Tour maps will be available and characters will be on hand to share historical facts about the manor and estate. 

The Cereal City Concert Bank of Battle Creek will perform beginning at 3 pm.

In addition to the estate tours, the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will offer free admission that day from 9am-5pm.  

 

W.K. Kellogg Manor House

The Manor is open for self-guided tours Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call ahead as we have groups who have rented the Manor and we may be closed during those times. The Mission of the W.K. Kellogg Manor House is to preserve and interpret the legacy of W.K. Kellogg’s education and philanthropy in a manner that invites community involvement and supports the mission the Kellogg Biological Station in education and outreach.

Built on the highest point overlooking Gull Lake in 1925-26, the Manor House, with its awe-inspiring views and historic grandeur, is a lovely choice to host your next event. W.K. Kellogg Manor House is the former estate of cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg and his wife, Dr. Carrie Staines Kellogg. Restored to its original grandeur in 2000, the home is rich with history and elegance with natural gardens around a lovely lakeside setting, making the Manor House truly a destination for all. The grounds include a carriage house with chauffeur’s residence, greenhouse with potting shed, caretaker’s cottage, boathouse, an authentic Dutch windmill, and a lakeside pagoda.

The Kellogg Manor House is a wonderful day trip for those interested in history and historic homes. Spend the whole day on KBS property with so many things to do! In addition to touring the inside of the Manor visitors can walk along the lake shore using our historical walking guide to see each of the original structures. Just minutes away guests can visit the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and Kellogg Farm and Pasture Dairy’s robotic milking observation barn.

 

W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary,  is a unique wildlife center located in Southwest Michigan offering conservation-focused public programs, interpretive tours, and accessible trails that allow close views of captive and wild birds.

The Sanctuary serves an important role as a primary outreach arm of Michigan State University’s W.K. Kellogg Biological Station.

  • Journey a paved, ¾ mile accessible trail to Wintergreen Lake to see hundreds of waterfowl in their natural habitat, including Trumpeter Swans, Canada Geese and a variety of duck species
  • Birds of Prey enclosures feature both rare and common raptors, including Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, Eastern Screech Owls and others
  • The Leslie E. Tassel upland game bird display houses threatened and endangered species from Michigan and from around the world
  • A Pollinator Garden that uses native plants to attract hummingbirds and butterflies
  • Visitors can browse and purchase nature- and bird-related gifts, toys and other locally made and fair trade items at the Sanctuary's Resource Center
