Endless sandy beaches along the Saginaw Bay can be found in the thumb area of Michigan. A variety of beaches and family attractions in Huron County can be found between the communities of Caseville and Port Austin. There are two popular state parks: Albert E. Sleeper and Port Cresent State Parks, as well as a number of county parks that offer a variety of activities, as well as acres of dunes and natural forest. The area is also home to one of Michigan's Dark Sky Preserve locations. Kayak rentals area available for viewing Turnip Rock. Boat charters, horseback riding, and trails for hiking and biking are available. There are nature centers, lighthouses, butterfly gardens and historic buildings downtown Port Austin to explore that house small cafes and unique retail shops. Caseville holds their annual 10-day Cheeseburger Festival in August. More information at: huroncounty.com.
