This week’s WCSG’s Travelin’ Together makes a stop along the beach in Grand Haven for an annual festival sure to keep you looking up! The 37th annual Grand Haven Kite Festival may mark the unofficial start of sand season in Michigan, but it’s sure to entertain and keep you looking towards the skies. Professional kite flyers will be at the Grand Haven State Park on Saturday and Sunday, offering flying demonstrations and stunt performances. Returning this year is the performance artists Sky Ryder Limited, also known as Jesse Kapsten, who incorporates areal stunts set to music. His performances have been worldwide and you can find videos showcasing his talents on YouTube. If you want to see giant kites, their owners have set up a spot where you can view them up close and learn more about handling these giant contraptions. The Art Kite Field will offer space for master kite makes to showcase their work and let you get up close and personal with exceptional craftsmanship. You can learn techniques, share insights, and just enjoy the colorful sights when you bring your own kite to participate in the fun. Admission is free, but you will need a recreational passport or daily pass to park on the grounds. For information on times, a map, and get up to date weather info, visit their Facebook page at .GH Kite Festival '26.
