04/10/25 - WCSG's Travelin' Together - Howard Christensen Nature Center

If you’re looking for miles of trails in a quiet and serene setting, the Howard Christensen Nature Center may have your answer. Our WCSG’s Travelin Together Spring Break edition, travels a little further north of Grand Rapids to Kent City and the Howard Christensen Nature Center. Nestled among 135 acres, the center boasts close to a dozen trails, taking you into the eco-systems that are home to hundreds of various plant and animal species. These systems are protected as the center took great pains to construct buildings with a “design with nature” concept. The trails wind throughout the center, offering spectacular views with two outlook towers, along with two floating docks on Chrishaven Lake. You’ll spot native Michigan birds along with migrating species. Several interpretive buildings offer not only a chance to rest, but also to learn more about native species around the center. For hours, admission prices and information on their upcoming Morel Mushroom hunt in May, visit their website at Howard Christensen.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
