American Airlines says they will cut some flights, but at the same time is looking to purchase some faster planes.

-American Airlines says they plan to schedule fewer flights during the month of November.

This comes following weeks of cancellations and disruptions this summer.

The cut will represent about 16% of the airline's November schedule.

American Airlines is not alone in dealing with disruptions but they have canceled the most flights among major U.S. carriers.

Meanwhile, American Airlines reports that they are working to cut flight time in half with a purchase of 20 Overture aircraft from Boom Supersonic.

Under the terms of the agreement, Boom is required to meet industry standard operating performance and safety requirements before any of the planes are delivered to American.

According to the manufacturer, The Overture will be able to reach Mach 1.7 speeds above water.

The aircraft is scheduled to begin carrying commercial passengers in 2029.
