The W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is located 15 miles north of Kalamazoo near Gull Lake. Michigan State University's W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is one of North America's pioneer wildlife conservation centers. The Sanctuary was created in 1927 as a refuge for the Canada Goose and other migratory birds and was an important part of Trumpeter Swan restoration efforts in Michigan in the 1980's. The area remains an important stop for migrating birds and waterfowl. The Sanctuary offers 180-acres of diverse wildlife habitats situated around 40-acre Wintergreen Lake. Today, the Sanctuary continues its commitment to conservation through citizen science projects, internship opportunities, research, and education for families, schools and organized groups. The grounds are open to the public all year, Wednesday thru Sunday, but is closed Monday and Tuesday. For more information: https://birdsanctuary.kbs.msu.edu/visit/
