West Michigan is home to beautiful beaches as well as sand dunes. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is protected. A few walking and biking trails are available but no vehicles are allowed on the dunes. In Southern Michigan, The Saugatuck Dunes have trails and rides that are available. Rides will begin mid-May and they will again offer a 40 minute tour of the dunes, local vegetation and wildlife. More information at: saugatuckduneride.com. About 90 minutes to the north are the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. They are the only sand dunes east of the Mississippi River where visitors are allowed to drive private motorized vehicles. You can let someone else drive and take a ride from the Mac Wood’s Dune Rides.
“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
