Posted by: Joel Hill | Thursday, June 12th, 2025 ( 6:00am)
Our WCSG's Travelin' Together stop this week is the Mitchell State Park in Cadillac. This destination definitely qualifies as a family-friendly location. The park offers over 660 acres to explore on both land and water. A popular spot located between Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac, Mitchell State Park is perfect for canoeing, fishing, and boating. Not to mention all the wildlife that exists around the waterways. For a close up look, visit the Carl T. Johnson Nature Center where you can learn more about the creatures that call this spot home and about the habitat they enjoy. In the center there are programs for kids, including lessons on archery and pellet gun shooting. If you want to explore more of the outdoors, you can walk the two-and-a-half mile Heritage Nature Trail. For more information on camping, programs and events, visit their website Mitchell State Park.
