9/20/21 - Pfizer Says Their Vaccine Is Okay For Kids

Daniel Schludi

Pfizer hopes to make their vaccine available to children under 12 years of age.

This morning, Pfizer announced that their vaccine is effective for kids ages 5 – 11.

They say they are now seeking approval for use on kids.

It comes as the Food and Drug Administration says they are not recommending a third dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for now.

The FDA says only people 65 and older or anyone else considered at high-risk, should get it for the time being.  Some medical experts say it is a matter of time before it is recommended for more groups of people.

Vaccine advisers with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will also meet this week to discuss COVID-19 booster shots.

President Biden says that he is hopeful that vaccines for school age children will greatly reduce cases in schools.

The CDC says the seven-day average of COVID-19 deaths hit a high last week, not seen since March 1.
