3/24/22 - Flags lowered for Madeleine Albright

Madeleine Albright, 84, lost her battle with cancer.

Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright was the first female secretary of state and served under the Clinton administration.  She pushed for NATO expansion eastward and helped lead the NATO combing campaign to stop ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. 

She passed away Wednesday following her battle with cancer.  She was 84.

She arrived in the USA as a young girl from Czechoslovakia.

President Barack Obama awarded Madeleine Albright the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the East Room of the White House, on May 29, 2012, in Washington.

Flags will fly at half staff in her honor.
