The gas price average in Michigan is $3.10, the same as last week.

(AAA Michigan) - Gas prices in Michigan are holding steady after weeks of decline. Michigan drivers are still paying an average of $3.10 per gallon for regular unleaded, the same price as last week. This price is 19 cents less than this time last month and 87 cents more than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $46 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $5 from when prices were their highest last November.

At the close of Thursday’s formal trading session, WTI increased by 43 cents to settle at $76.99. In 2021, WTI racked up gains of about 59% versus a settlement of $48.52/bbl on Dec. 31, 2020, driven by pent-up fuel demand amid successful rollouts of COVID-19 vaccines particularly in the West and developed countries.

"After weeks of declining prices, Michigan motorists are beginning to see gas prices hold steady,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “If crude oil prices continue to increase, pump prices will likely follow suit.”

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased slightly. Metro Detroit’s current average is $3.22 per gallon.  This price is 1 cent less than last week’s average but still $1 more than this same time last year.
