Au Sable River Festival and Canoe Marathon

The AuSable River Festival leads up to the canoe marathon which is a grueling, non-stop 120 mile canoe race starting in Grayling and ending in Oscoda.

GRAYLING,Mich. -The Au Sable River Canoe Marathon is the main focus of the Au Sable River Festival in Grayling and takes place every year at the end of July.

The 120-mile canoe race begins in Grayling and ends near the shores of Lake Huron in downtown Oscoda. Elite paddlers from across the world battle portages, darkness and fatigue as they navigate the scenic and challenging course.  The start of this race is the most spectacular in canoe racing and is witnessed by the largest number of spectators of all Northern Michigan events.

The annual July event attracts both participants and spectators from around the globe.

During this last full week of July the city of Grayling celebrates the Au Sable Canoe Marathon and Festival.

Visitors can enjoy viewing time trials for the upcoming race, craft shows, car shows, an avenue to booths, horse shoe tournament and plenty of foods to try and a variety of music.

The parade takes place Saturday afternoon at 4pm in Grayling and then the race officially begins on land on the streets of Grayling as racers run down to the Au Sable to launch their canoes at 9p.m.

Help us celebrate the AuSable River Canoe Marathon 75th Anniversary! Taking place on Saturday, July 29 at 4 pm. Paddling teams, organizations, and businesses will participate in this year’s parade. Spectators will be able to view the parade along the I-75 Business Loop/James Street.

Encouraging Words From Your Bible

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.
