9/5/21 - Drownings in Lake Michigan over the Labor Day Weekend

Strong winds and high waves resulted in Beach Hazards and Small Craft Advisories.

The National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazards Statement and Small Craft Advisory over the weekend.

The strong winds along the lakeshore resulted in high waves and dangerous swimming conditions with rip currents, especially near the piers.

A 30-year-old man believed to be from the Chicago area, lost his life in Lake Michigan at Saugatuck Dune State Park Sunday.   

On Saturday morning, a 67-year-old man drown in Lake Michigan.  He was at a private beach in Park Township near Holland, and was in the water with his family when he was pulled away by waves in Park Township.
