A mask order for K-6th graders ends quickly.

There will be no mask mandate for kids in K-6th grade in Allegan County as of 5pm today.

The County Board of Commissioners met today and rejected a request by the Health Department leadership to support the Department's order requiring students in kindergarten through 6th grade wear masks during the current Covid-19 contagion.  The decision was made to not act on the Health Department's request.

The board had previously notified the department that they planned to not support the health department's view on mask wearing.

By declining to act on a request by the Health Department to keep the order in effect, the board effectively killed the order that was put in place on August 18, 2021.  Both the Board and the Health Department acknowledge that without board approval, the health department risked close to one million dollars in state funding.

Encouraging Words From Your Bible

“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
