The young coach appears to have suffered a fatal heart attack Monday.
Students, faculty and parents at Comstock Park High School are mourning the loss of the boy’s varsity basketball coach.
27-year-old Tyler Edwards is believed to have suffered a heart attack and passed away on Monday. School counselors met with team members. School leaders released a statement saying "His genuine care for others and his infectious smile will live forever in the many lives he touched.”
Edwards had only started coaching in 2021, and despite only a year with the team, his impact on them will be felt for years to come.
"His genuine care for others and his infectious smile will live forever in the many lives he touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards Family and his girlfriend Ms. Kayla Brooks.”
Comstock Park students will return to the classroom next week.
