Mackinac Island is named 2022 “Best Island In Continental U.S.” by Travel + Leisure.

(9&10 News) - Mackinac Island has announced that it has been named the “Best Island in the Continental U.S.” in the 2022 World’s Best Awards from Travel + Leisure.

Each year, Travel + Leisure, the largest travel media brand in the United States, partners with research firm M&RR to invite their nine million readers to participate in a survey on the top destinations, properties and more.

The Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau is also continuing to encourage visitors to enjoy the natural wonders of the island, including distinctive natural rock formations, scenic waterfront vistas, iconic landmarks and historic sites.

“We’re really hoping to use this as something that tells the story, to let people know that other people have recognized this as the top island in the country,” said Tim Hygh, executive director of Mackinac Island Tourism.

Mackinac Island also won the award of a “Top 10 U.S. Island” by TripAdvisor and USA Today.
