6/17/22 - Officer Involved Shooting

Michigan State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Allegan County Thursday night.

(ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich.)  — Allegan County authorities were involved in a traffic stop about 10:00 p.m. Thursday evening .

It took place along 26th Street, near 136th Avenue in Salem Township, northwest of Wayland.

Few details were released and little information is known concerning what led up to the fatal shooting.

One person lost their life and a deputy was treated at the hospital for injuries. 

The Michigan State Police are now handling the investigation.
