The Prosecutor says too many details are missing from a State Police report involving the officer-involved shooting.

Patrick Lyoy was fatally shot by a Grand Rapids police officer on April 4.

The Michigan State Police are handling the investigation.

Thursday afternoon they handed off their report to Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker.  It is Becker's job to decide whether the officer was justified in shooting Lyoya and if charges are warranted.

Becker said the report he received was not complete and he won't rush to a decision.

State Police say they are still waiting for forensic reports from the manufacturer of the body camera and Taser.

While I appreciate the continued work of the Michigan State Police on this incident, as  noted in their press release, they have submitted an incomplete report. I will begin to review the materials they have gathered at this time; but I cannot, and will not, make a final decision until they submit all the necessary information. - Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker

Encouraging Words From Your Bible

“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
