A local child wandered away from his home and was later found by the Kent County Sheriff's Department Dive Team.

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich:  (Kent County Sherriff Department News Release)  - Just before 5:00 PM the Kent County Sheriff's Office Dive Team recovered the body of a 3-year-old boy from a pond in Gaines Township.

Around 2:30 PM a 911 call reported that parents had their 3-year-old boy go missing from the area of 6260 Woodfield Dr SE.  Deputies responded to the area to help check.

During the investigation deputies located video evidence of the child outside by himself around 1:18 PM.

Due to the lack of sightings, the proximity of the pond to the apartment building, and the video, KCSO focused its efforts on the pond.

KCSO's Victim Advocates are currently working alongside the family during this difficult time as investigators work to find out what led up to this event.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
