The department is withdrawing the Public Health Advisory on Masking Indoor Public Settings, including school settings.

As Covid cases appear to be receeding, the State Health Department is updating recommendations for masks.  MDHHS recommends that all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, continue to practice universal masking in high-risk congregate settings including long-term care facilities, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, jails and health care facilities.
However, the department is also suggesting that families and individuals assess their own situation.  Department Director Elizabeth Hertel suggests Michiganders should consider their families safety.
“Individuals and families should asses their own risks  for COVID-19 exposure and transmission and make choices about when it makes sense to wear masks.”
School districts and organizations are urged to work with local health care departments to help determine policies.
