Several people and several guns were part of a deadly crime scene early this morning in Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom says police were called shortly after 2:00 a.m. to an area near S. Division and Fair Street SE.

Several gunshots were heard during an active gunfight with multiple shooters.

At least two people were struck.  One man was pronounced dead and another was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say there were dozens of people at the scene at the time and more than 30 witnesses were interviewed.  It is believed that several others left the scene.

A portion of Division was closed this morning as officers continue to investigate and collect evidence.

Michigan State Police are also investigating because a local police officer fired a weapon.  That officer was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
