GOP representatives meet for their convention this weekend, while absentee ballots can now be requested for the General Election. Voters could see an abortion-related question on the ballot.

The Michigan Republican Convention takes place this weekend in Lansing.  Saturday, delegates from each county of the state will vote to determine who they support for Republican candidates in the upcoming General Election.

GOP candidate for Governor, Tudor Dixon, announced her choice for Lieutenant Governor is Shane Hernandez but that decision will be made by party delegates at the convention.

The 2022 MIGOP State Nominating Convention will also nominate candidates for: Secretary of State, Attorney General, Michigan Supreme Court, State Board of Education, Wayne State University Board of Governors, Michigan State University Board of Trustees and the University of Michigan Board of Regents.

Voters in Michigan can now request an absentee ballot for the November General Election.

All registered voters in the state are eligible to vote absentee.

They can apply online at the Secretary of State (SOS) website or print an application form from the site and mail, email or hand deliver it to their local clerk.

Michigan permits the returning of absentee ballots until 8 p.m. on election day but those voters choosing to vote by mail are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible to avoid postal delays.

The Bureau of Elections in Michigan said that after examining petition sheets and a sample of signatures, state officials determined that a petition drive contained more than enough valid signatures to send an question to the ballot that would be related to abortions.

The group, Reproductive Freedom for All, says they believe the Michigan Constitution should allow women to have an abortion if they want to and have the right to make pregnancy-related decisions without interference.
