Multiple law enforcement agencies were on alert for the 'person of interest' being sought for the Highland Park parade shooting.

A person of interest in the Highland Park parade shooting on the 4th of July was apprehended last night after being spotted driving on the north side of Chicago.

"The person of interest, Robert Crimo III, was spotted by a North Chicago unit at Buckley and 41.  His vehicle, the vehicle we were looking for, he (the officer) initiated, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the subject.  That subject did flee.  A brief pursuit went on.  Ultimately they were able to get the subject to stop at Wesley and 41, in Lake Forest.  The subject was taken into custody without incident."

Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen says the driver, Robert Crimo the third, faces multiple charges but the exact details are yet to be worked out.  Six people were killed in the incident and at least two dozen were wounded, most by gunfire.  A majority of them have already been discharged from the hospital.

The Chicago White Sox cancelled a planned fireworks celebration in light of the events in Highland Park.  Just before the start of the game, the team, joined by the Minnesota Twins held a moment of silence.  Other Chicago area teams posted messages of condolence and support on their social media pages.
