A Japanese teen has become the youngest ever to win a gold medal in Olympic history.  13-year old Nishiya Momiji won the street skateboarding event.

America took home gold in skeet shooting, women’s 57kg Taekwondo and now lead in gold in the medal count.  China has more medal overall.

USA swimming took home six medals—one gold, two silver and three bronze.  This is the most Team USA ever won on the first day of Olympic swimming finals.

The USA men’s basketball team suffered a defeat at the hands of France for their first loss since 2004 at the Olympic games.

In one of those moments that perhaps got missed, a robot made a three-point and half-court shot during half-time of the USA/France game.

On the schedule today include fencing, softball, men’s all around gymnastics and women’s freestyle 1500 meter.
