July 17 is the deadline to get a refund from your 2019 Tax Return.

-(Positive Prep material) - The Internal Revue Service announced that approximately $1.5 billion in tax refunds for the year 2019 are still unclaimed, as the individuals have yet to file their tax returns.

The agency is urging people across the United States to submit their tax returns to claim their refunds.

The IRS estimates that close to 1.5 million have yet to file and the deadline for filing these outstanding returns is Monday, July 17, 2023.

According to the law, taxpayers generally have a three-year window to file their tax returns and claim their refunds.

If the deadline is missed, the unclaimed money becomes the property of the US Treasury.

The agency said that the average median refund for the tax year 2019 amounts to $893.

It is likely that the pandemic led many individuals to overlook the task of filing their 2019 tax returns.
