During the early morning hours, Russian troops began invading Ukraine. Several lives have been lost and Ukraine is calling it a full-scale war.

-President Vladimir Putin sent Russian troops into Ukraine.  He warned other countries that any attempt to interfere would lead to consequences.

Ukrainian authorities said Russian forces struck military assets and other important defense facilities.  The Russian military claimed to have incapacitated all of Ukraine's air defenses and air bases.

Explosions were heard in several key cities, including the Ukrainian capital.  There are reports of at least 40 lives being lost.

Many Ukrainians have started to flee.  Other are trying to get out money and some are running to the stores for supplies.

Global markets have been impacted by the Russian assault.

During an emergency meeting, The European Union is planning the "strongest, the harshest package" of sanctions it has ever considered, and will target strategic sectors of the Russian economy by blocking the access to technologies and markets that are key for Russia.

Members of the Group of Seven will meet today and more sanctions are expected.

President Biden plans to address the American people this afternoon.
