Snow and ice along with wet roads spells problems for West Michigan drivers. The Kent County Road Commission is offering some tips to try and keep drivers safe.

Winter weather is back and that means hazardous road conditions.

County Road crews have been out on the road today as wet snow has been falling for several hours. These conditions mixed with near freezing temperatures creates several problems for drivers.

Kent County Road Commission crews are scraping/removing the heavy, wet snow and applying materials where needed. Current temperatures hover around freezing, rising to the mid-30s. This will assist cleanup efforts.

Drivers, stay alert for possible ice, slush, and water during single commute.

Safety Tips:
⏰ Leave early
🚦 Take it slow
📵 Avoid distractions while driving
🚜 Give our trucks plenty of room
🚸 Especially for those with little ones, stay away from the road's edge – snow coming off our truck blades is heavy and our drivers cannot see individuals standing too close to the road's edge.

Give yourself a little extra time if you do have to be out. Give the plows and salt trucks a little more space so they can work safely. And finally, make sure to keep the headlights on and ease up on the gas pedal.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
