— For the fifth time in as many weeks, the No. 1 team in the AP college basketball poll got knocked off.
A defensive breakdown on an in-bounds pass led to Tyler Griffey's uncontested layup at the buzzer, giving Illinois a 74-72 come-from-behind victory over top-ranked Indiana.
The Illini trailed by double digits most of the second half before closing the game on a 13-2 run over the final 3:36.
D.J. Richardson led Illinois with 23 points. Griffey finished with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Indiana drops to 20-3 and will likely lose the No. 1 ranking when a new poll comes out next week.
Indiana's loss gives fourth-ranked Duke an opportunity to reclaim the No. 1 ranking again. Mason Plumlee poured in 30 points and the Blue Devils improved to 20-2 with a 98-85 decision over North Carolina State. Seth Curry added 26 points and Quinn Cook had 21 as the Blue Devils won their fourth in a row. Duke never trailed, shot 54 percent and led by as many as 21.
Saturday, Michigan plays at Wisconsin and MSU faces Purdue.
