In the morning, Jesus was put on trial. He endured the shame of mockery, false accusations, and beatings. After unlawful trials, he was sentenced to death by crucification. Before Jesus was led to Calvary, he was mocked, insulted and crowned with a crown of thorns. Broken and beaten, Jesus was led to Calvary, where soldiers nailed him to the wooden cross. Around 3pm, Jesus cried out, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? ("My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"). Shortly after, Jesus breathed his last. His body was then taken by Joseph and Nicodemus and prepared with spices and fine linen and laid in the tomb. p r a y e r : Biblical Resources | MARK 15:1-47, JOHN 19:38-42 Visit our Instagram & Facebook stories for deeper reflection, music, & questions!
Dear Jesus, you are the greatest example of love. A love that forgives, transforms, and restores. You were beaten and scarred for our sins. We were undeserving, but you did it all to forgive us. Thank you for forgiving us! Help us to forgive others more freely - knowing that we must forgive our brothers. Help us to see our brothers & sisters the way you see them - with love and grace. Amen.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
