9.5.14: Coopersville Area schools put on lockdown
The Coopersville Area Public School District was put on lockdown Thursday afternoon following a threat.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Dept. says they received a call around 3 p.m. of a threat to the school. At that point the high school and middle school had already been dismissed but the elementary schools were still in session.
Deputies and the K-9 unit was brought in to sweep all the buildings and found them all to be safe. Officers gave the all-clear around 4 p.m.
The police and the school district are working together to try and track down where the call originated from.
