The big chill is slowly lifting - Jan 8th, 2014 - National

The "polar vortex" is running out of steam.
Some very cold air is still lingering over a large part of the U.S., but the big deep freeze is starting to break after low temperature records were shattered up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
Double-digit below-zero temperatures could finally start lifting in Indianapolis , where the high is expect to be 35 degrees later today.
Authorities say there were at least 21 cold-related deaths across the country since Sunday.
