Shippers playing catch up - Dec 26th, 2013 - National
— Didn't get that package you were expecting to arrive in time for Christmas?
UPS and Fed Ex say they're working on it. Delivery delays are being blamed on poor weather earlier this week and a high volume of holiday shipments.
UPS did not make pickups or deliveries Wednesday, but says it's brought in extra workers to sort out packages for Thursday and Friday delivery.
Meanwhile, utility officials are worried that up to 6 inches of snow forecast for parts of Maine today and continued cold temperatures could hamper utility crews from restoring electricity that went out during last weekend's ice storm.
Utilities say about 40,000 customers are still without power in Maine, around 139,000 in Michigan and about 160,000 in Canada.
