Meijer State Games will include Winter Sports - Oct 16th, 2013 - Sports

The Meijer State Games of Michigan is planning to hold its inaugural 2014 Winter Games in the Grand Rapids area.
Officials this week said the event will be held Feb. 14-16 and organizers hope to attract more than 2,000 athletes. Competition has been planned to include a variety of sports.
The opening ceremony takes place at Cannonsburg Ski Area and will include a parade of athletes and a torch light parade.
Modeled after the Olympics, the Meijer State Games aims to draw athletes regardless of age or ability. Earlier this year, more than 65-hundred athletes participated in the Meijer Summer Games.
