MI Marriage Protection Amendment challenged in Detroit today - Oct 16th, 2013 - State

Wednesday afternoon, a federal court in Detroit is expected to announce its judgement on a case involving same-sex marriage in Michigan. Michigan voters said marriage is reserved for a man and woman but 2 Detroit area nurses are challenging the Marriage Protection Amendment and say the ban on same-sex marriage violated the Equal Protection clause of the Constitution. The state says the will of the voters must be respected. The federal judge is scheduled to give his judgement summary at 2:30 p.m.
