Work to increase state immunization rates - Oct 11th, 2013 - State

Recent statistics show that Michigan has the 4th highest rate in the nation for the number of children who are vaccinated. The Michigan State medical society says that translates to around 72% of Michigan children and 63% of adolescents, who are fully immunized.
Several health organizations and individuals began testifying this week at a hearing on the need to raise immunization rates. Dr. Dan McGee, says Michigan is one of the few states that has what's called a philosophical exemption. This means you could exempt your child for reasons other than medical reasons or religious reason.
