Rockford celebrates special baseball field Saturday - Sep 20th, 2013 - Sports
The West Michigan Miracle League is an organization that provides children with mental and physical disabilities, the opportunity to play baseball. A special field has been built for this league in a new complex near Rockford. The Nate Hurwitz.
The Opening Day celebration begins at noon on Saturday and organizers are planning a ceremony, player parade, and exhibition innings.
The field is named after Nate Hurwitz who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and used a wheelchair for much of his childhood. He died during his junior year at Forest Hills Eastern High School.
