Fast-food strikes set for cities nationwide - Aug 29th, 2013 - National
— Organizers say thousands of fast-food workers are set to stage walkouts Thursday in dozens of cities around the country.
It's part of a nationwide campaign to get chains such as McDonald's, Taco Bell and Wendy's to pay workers higher wages.
Workers say they want $15 an hour. Many of them earn the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, or $15,000 a year. The wage increase would be about $31,000 a year for full-time employees.
