UN says Syrian child refugees tops 1 million mark - Aug 23rd, 2013 - International

— The number of children made refugees by the war in Syria is now past the 1 million mark.

Two U.N. refugee and children's agencies say some 740,000 of those children are under the age of 11.

The Office for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees says even after the children escape Syria, they're traumatized, depressed and are in need of a reason for hope.
The agencies say even after the children have fled Syria, they face child labor, early marriage, and potential for sexual exploitation and trafficking.
