Extra money to flight blight - Aug 21st, 2013 - State

Governor Snyder says Michigan is getting $100 million dollars in federal aid to demolish abandoned buildings and help fight blight. Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Pontiac, and Grand Rapids will benefit to improve the look of some of their neighborhoods.
Grand Rapids will use $2.5 million to demolish about 100 blighted properties. 45 properties are already being considered for this project. The Kent County Land Bank says a major priority for them is to partner with others to put new homes in place of those that they tear down.
