Texas Senate on track to pass tough abortion rules - Jul 12th, 2013 - National
— The leader of the Texas state Senate is determined to fend off a filibuster when he schedules a vote today on tough new abortion restrictions.
A Democratic filibuster and raucous protesters have helped prevent the bill so far from becoming law.
But Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst says today there'll be extra police officers at the state Capitol, and anyone who breaks the rules gets thrown in jail.
The bill would ban most abortions after 20 weeks, as well as other restrictions.
