Grand Haven emergency crews deal with plane crash and drowning - Jul 1st, 2013 - Local

A small experimental plane crashed Sunday afternoon near the Grand Haven Memorial Airpark. The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. as the pilot Brian Cannon of Grand Haven, sustained engine problems and loss of airspeed with his experimental-class biplane. The plant passed inspection to fly last Monday. Cannon suffered internal injuries when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff and crashed on Indian Trails Drive in an area known as Pottawatomie Bayou.

Search crews will continue to look for a 47-year-old Walker man who went overboard in Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon north of Grand Haven. John English was with a group on a boat that was traveling from Muskegon to Grand Haven when the boat stopped and English jumped off the boat to go swimming. He quickly became separated from the boat because of the winds and strong currents.
