Hotshots remembered...19 firefighters die in Ariz. - Jul 1st, 2013 - National

— They were called Hotshots, an elite firefighting crew from Prescott, Ariz. Nineteen of those Hotshots were killed yesterday while fighting a fast-moving, out-of-control wildfire in the town of Yarnell, northwest of Phoenix.

Prescott Fire Chief Dan Fraijo says, "We're devastated. We just lost 19 of the finest people you'll ever meet."

It is the deadliest wildfire involving firefighters in the U.S. for at least 30 years. The same blaze northwest of Phoenix also destroyed about 200 homes. Some residents who evacuated small towns near the blaze huddled in shelters, watching their own homes burn on TV.
