Religious denominations begin conventions - Jun 10th, 2013 - National
Southern Baptist pastors from around the nation are meeting in Houston in advance of their denomination's annual conference starting Tuesday. The Southern Baptist have nearly 16 million members and at the Convention they are expected to pass a resolution urging congregations to end their sponsorship of Boy Scout troops now that gay youths will be allowed to join.
The Christian Reformed Church's annual Synod is underway in Grand Rapids. The delegates from around the country will take up a variety of issues. One proposal would involve the creation of classes of churches from a geographical location that would agree on a particular position involving women serving as office bearers.
