harges follow raids on 3 marijuana dispensaries - Apr 11th, 2013 - State
— Authorities say an investigation following raids on three West Michigan medical marijuana dispensaries has led to additional charges.
Another arrest was made Wednesday and the Kent County prosecutor's office issued warrants for two other people.
The charges stem from March 6 raids on three Grand Rapids businesses. Authorities raided the Mid-Michigan Compassion Club, Purple Med and Natural Wellness Associates. They seized marijuana, baked goods containing marijuana, equipment and documents.
Before the additional charges were announced, the compassion club's owner Dave Overholt was charged with drug possession and maintaining a drug house. He says he believes the club is legal, and is staying open.
Michigan voters approved marijuana for some chronic medical conditions in 2008, but the Supreme Court ruled in January that medical marijuana dispensaries aren't allowed.
