GRPS Board looks at latest union contract - Mar 26th, 2013 - Local
Members of the Grand Rapids Teachers Union voiced their opinion on a new contract proposal.
According to the head of the union, the vote wasn't that close and the contract passed easily among the rank and file. Less than half of all union members turned out to vote.
There was some concern, especially among those who were newly hired in the district, that they would be under more pressure to get a contract signed because of the recently signed right-to-work legislation.
The school board will hold a special meeting tonight to vote on approving the contract that would cover the remainder of this year and for the next two years.
