Annual evaluation looks at MI counties - Mar 20th, 2013 - Local
The annual County Health Rankings have been released and there are several West Michigan counties that are among the healthiest in the state, while others are not.
The Rankings take into account multiple factors and examine the health and well-being of people. Some of those factors include: rates of childhood poverty, smoking obesity, rates of high school and college graduation, access to healthy foods, and access to medical care.
There are over 80 counties in Michigan. On the positive end, the latest rankings put Ottawa County at #2, Allegan at #11, and Kent County at #16. Meanwhile Muskegon comes in at #69 and Calhoun County #78.
