World reacts to NKorea nuclear test - Feb 12th, 2013 - International

— State media in North Korea says the country has detonated a miniaturized nuclear device at a northeastern test site. Tuesday's action defies an order by the U.N. Security Council to shut down atomic activity or face more sanctions and international isolation.

The world is responding to North Korea's latest nuclear test.

NATO is calling today's test "irresponsible" and a flagrant violation of U.N. Security council actions, and the Security Council will hold an emergency meeting this morning. President Barack Obama calls North Korea's action a "highly provocative act" that threatens U.S. security and international peace.

North Korea's Foreign Ministry says its test is merely its "first response" to what it calls U.S. threats.
