2 deadly accidents due to slippery roads - Jan 22nd, 2013 - Local
West Michigan police say a 55-year-old Howard City woman has been killed in a head-on collision in Reynolds Township.
Police say the 64-year-old male driver of a Honda CRV had been southbound on Federal Highway in Montcalm County about 10:30 p.m. Monday when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound Pontiac Montana being driven by the female victim. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver was being treated at a hospital for serious injuries.
Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Identities of both drivers had not been released, pending notification of the woman's family.
An investigation is ongoing.
A Mecosta County drivers died after veering off the road and hitting a tree. Around 5:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on 85th Avenue in Hilton Township. The driver, 54-eeh vehicle but conscious. Ketchum later died as a result of his injuries.
