Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday - Sep 28th, 2012 - Local

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. It is an opportunity to drop off unwanted and unused prescription drugs and safely dispose of them.
Last April, Americans turned in 552,161 pounds of prescription drugs at over 5,600 sites operated by the DEA and nearly 4,300 state and local law enforcement partners.
Medicines that are left in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of drug abuse in the U.S. area alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
Several State Police posts in Michigan will serve as drop off centers and many local police departments will as well, including Grand Rapids, Holland, Wyoming, Grandville and Kalamazoo.
Drop off times Saturday will be between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
