G.R. crime goes up due to warmer weather - Jul 25th, 2012 - Local

According to a Grand Rapids Police Department report released this week, crime in the city rose 12% through June of this year.
Police Chief Kevin Belk said property crime is up 17% so far in 2012, while violent crime is up almost 8%. He says for the most part Grand Rapids is still a far safer community than we use to be. He says this year's increase primarily was due to the warm weather we experience in February and March. People were getting out more and engaging in activities that normally they wouldn't see during the winter months.
